За них, кстати, гимны и получили родовое название: <em>Gymnocalycium</em> = <em>gymnos</em> голый + <em>calyx</em> чашечка. У других кактусов чашечки волосатые, шипастые или то и другое вместе. А по-английски гимны зовутся <em>chin cactus</em> — кому-то видится сходство отдельных сегментов стебля кактуса с подбородками.</p><p>Красный цветочек любит поспать: раскрывается каждый день после обеда, где-то там в районе астрономического полудня, а к вечеру довольно рано заворачивается обратно в свои чешуйки. These buds, by the way, gave the Latin name to the genus: <em>Gymnocalycium</em> = <em>gymnos</em> nude + <em>calyx</em> “cup” made by flower sepals. Other cacti have flowers and buds covered with thorns, wool or both.</p><p>The red flower is fond of sleeping: it opens after lunch, around solar noon, and by early evening closes the scales again.
